Hello everyone. Long time lurker here. Applied with a business incubator in October 2022 and recieved work permit. Arrived in Canada in May 2023. Since then I have renewed the work permit twice. Applied in May 2025 for the 3 year open work permit and got refused.

The officer stated insufficient proof of funds (spouse in Canada has 2 full time jobs earning over 100k a year that has sustained us for the past 2.5 years) and also said there wasn't an LMIA number. Odd because startup founders get LMIA exempt numbers.

A lawyer told us to put in a reconsideration request, another said to submit a new application.

This process is exhausting and takes a toll.

Any advice or questions?

IRCC has stopped receiving any new WP applications under the SUV since 31st Dec, 2025 so you could only send the reconsideration request.

I had one WP under SUV expired on may 2025 and before expiry i submitted OWP on March 2025 and was not linked as extension for my previous WP ; and it is still pending with no update from March 2025; can any body advise the staus and how can be expedited ? and my PR since Sep 2021 applied and pending for A34 Security sicne mar 2025 and eligibity was passed long time with PAL ; any body advise on my case after all the changes ? mandamus be helpful or not and any body try manadamus approach to expeidte

PR applied : Aug/2022 - still wating
Last WP request : Mar/2025 - still waiting
MP support request again : No response
ATIP request for WP : 62 days - no response
ATIP request for PR : 34 days - no response
IRCC consulting calling : "The officer is working hard to complete. There's nothing to do, just wait."

I'm preparing for Mandamus but I'm not sure if will be safe to or not. Technically, it shouldn't bring problems but ...

To be honest I don’t think this bill will affect SUV too much. Unless you’re from designated organisations that were issuing hundreds commitments of certificate

The last update was around 1.5 years ago, asking about the schedule (I think A) when my sons turned 18.
