Hi everyone.

I'm a startup owner in Germany (UG). Can I apply for the startup visa program? Should I close the company? How can I move my startup? Can I incorporate a company in Canada and buy my European company?

Hi stephanb,

1) For Startup Visa, you must have support of designated organization. Once they approve of your business, they will issue you Letter of Support. Without this letter, your application will be refused straight away. Apart from that, you must have 10% voting rights in your business and that designated organization must jointly hold more than 50% of voting rights

(source : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/business/start-up/)

2) No

3) By first getting letter of support (as mentioned in point # 1)

4) Yes, however you may require professional services of a corporate lawyer to get accurate answers.

Hi XpressEnterprise,

Thank you for the quick response. This looks interesting but it's not clear how a designated organization can approve the existing business if the one is not located in Canada. The CIC page describes only the case with an innovative business idea.

What are innovative business ideas??

Have you found any yet? Also you have to consider local business potentials also while starting a business in Canada!!
