Hello everyone,

I have heard that there are stage 1 and stage 2 in the common law application process.
Does anyone know what do they look at (e.g documents..etc) during each stage? and what is the time line for that?

Please help! and thank you in advance.

That depends on whether you are applying inland or outland.
Inland takes 17+ months for stage 1, and they evaluate both sides, checking the sponsor and the relationship as well. Stage 2 takes about 8 months, when they do more thorough checks into the applicant.

Outland stage 1 is currently 3 months, but in the past has been anywhere from 1 to 4, depending on the number of applications received, seasonal work patterns, and various other factors. Stage 1 evaluates the sponsor, and whether the package is complete. Stage 2 is where they look at the applicant and the relationship. Times vary wildly depending on your VO.
