Hi there,
My wife, 2 children and I live in the UK and are submitting a spouse sponsorship application as my wife was born in Canada.

My eldest daughter has a citizenship certificate that took a year and a half to come through due to covid and we are currently waiting on her passport. My youngest is still waiting on her citizenship certificate and we’ve been told it will be around 18 months before we get a reply.

I have which I’m hoping someone with similar circumstances or a good deal of experience can help with:

1. do I need to submit a formal acknowledgment from the Canadian embassy that my youngest daughter’s application for CCC has been received along with all my SS application forms?

2. what are my chances of getting a Limited Validity passport for my youngest daughter in the event that my SS application is accepted, but we are still waiting on her proof of Canadian citizenship?

Thank you in advance to anyone who can take the time to respond!

1. You don't need the citizenship docs to apply for spousal sponsorship, you can just include a copy of the application for citizenship certs for them.

2. You can apply for the temporary passport or limited validity ones before the citizenship certs are even received (or at same time). Call it applying on the basis of presumed citizenship (not an official term). No idea how long this might take, but I'd bet there are a lot of such apps in London. (NOte in some cases they can even put a special visa in other passport - on same basis - but I think they only do that for outright emergencies; not certain though.).

Small additional: one thing here is to go to (contact) the consular department of the high commission/consulate/global affairs, not the immigration section, about the passports. The issue is them needing the documents to travel.
