Spouse Sponsorship ( Inland) - Birth Certificate

Hi everyone,

I wanted to know whether Birth Certificate is necessary while applying for a Spouse Sponsorship?

I am applying for a Spouse PR for Canada ( Inland) - I have a Work Permit and working in IT industry.
I found out that Birth Certificate is a requirement to apply for a spouse visa. I am afraid I don't have one and it is difficult to get it from the authorities back in India.
Is there any other document that can suffice the requirement of a Birth Certificate?
