Hi, I am a Canadian resident(born in Canada), married to a Filipina, with a 6 mo old son(born in the Philippines).
We've been married for around a year, and throughout our marriage and prior courtship(around 2 years), I've also spent around 6 months in the Philippines with her.
Now, I am looking to apply for a Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class Visa(Partner Visa?), but I have some questions.
The online guide specifies that in addition to making my application: "Your spouse, common-law or conjugal partner, or dependent children must apply for permanent residence."
And: "The applications for both sponsorship and permanent residence should be filled out and sent at the same time."
Does this mean I need to make two separate applications?
In other words, do I need to fill out/submit forms for both the: Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class.
AND:
Applying for permanent residence from within Canada: Spouse or common-law partner in Canada class (IMM 5289)?
Also, will I still have to apply for a Citizenship Certificate for my son?
Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
