Hi Everyone I am Altimate from Nigeria, I plan to apply for for SOWP in September and confused whether to add proof of funds or not, Though I am working and has post graduation experience of 4years. Is it compulsory to add a Proof of finance for open work permit as it is not stated on CIC's website?

Do not apply for visitor visa as you will submit your PR application which contradict with your intention.
Apply for sowp as you are doing NOC B category job so your wife is eligible for SOWP.
make sure your submit enough picture,marriage invitation card, call records, chat history, whatever you can think of to prove relationship.
also write an emotional letter to VO.

The issue is that we did court marriage. we do have some photographs, a lot of chat and call history, History of funds I sent her and some other proofs also. which I already sent to CIC, when I applied for the second time. Addition to that, I also wrote an emotional letter from my side as well as from her side also. still, SOWP was rejected stating that " not satisfied with the legitimacy of marriage".

What I think the reason is, lack of family members in the marriage pictures and even none of our parents were there.
So please suggest me some possible way to get my spouse in Canada. I hope I will receive my AINP next month as she is included as dependent in that.
Also, I am not planning to apply or PR currently on the basis of AINP, as I am planning to apply express entry under CEC, once I got 1-year experience here in Canada.

Sorry to cut in here. Does job details suffice as proof of funds or one need to attach account statement as I am preparing my SOWP application against September 2017.

If you have NOC A job and PGWP then,

1) in my opinion its safe to go with SOWP.

2) You just need to type the informations about her past 10 years personal history(what she was doing and where) details in the form. Other than that you don't have to explain anything else.

3) Am not sure what to say here.


Note : For SOWP, we have to show marriage certificates , photos of marriage ceremony, call/chat history and your job details as proof of funds.

Yes, Online application and application was processed at New Delhi embassy.

Fill out all the 3 forms [IMM1295E, IMM5257B_1, IMM5707E ], medicals and include these supporting documents,

1) Invitation Letter - signed by you inviting your spouse to stay with you.
2) A letter stating that you will financially take care of her and documents to prove that (example: Your 6 months bank statements having enough liquid cash flow, a letter confirming your employment in Canada, pay slips, your job offer letter, Notice of Assessments for the last 2 years, etc...)
3) *VERY IMPORTANT* - If you work in NOC-A/B level job, then a letter from your employer stating your job duties and responsibilities which will prove that you work in NOC A/B job.
4) A copy of your valid work permit along with a valid visa.
5) A copy of your passport biodata pages
6) A copy of your marriage certificate
7) Few photographs of your marriage ceremony following the rituals, honeymoon pictures, etc which will prove that your marriage is legitimate.
Cool A copy of your degree from Canada (if available)

If she will be sponsoring herself during her stay in Canada, include her bank documents/employment confirmation/tax forms, etc which will prove that she is financially capable to support herself in Canada.

Hi A14altimate,

I understand you situation, preparing documents is always pain in the ass, also what make it worse is there are no specific rules or agenda to follow for preparing the supporting documents. So try to put as much as details/proofs so that its make easier for immigration officer to make the decision. Its always better to include both, bank account statements - at least last 6 months and Job offer letter (letter should state you are on full time, permanent, working hours, hourly salary and detailed Job description)
