Hi everyone,

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE REPLYING.

HE IS APPLYING FOR PR FOR BOTH OF US AT THE SAME TIME.

My partner applied for permanent residency for the both of us. He is on welfare AND works. Will this affect our application. On the application we stated where he works and he pays taxes.

If anyone has been in a similar situation please let me know your story. What should we do, are we ok?

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

With respect it seems you quest for PR is clouding your judgment and ability to be truthful:

1. You refer to being a student at the 2 year mark of a 4 year course and seeking PR advice which was provided (your finances appear to be an issue at some point)

2. You state your student permit is expiring and you are looking for various options

3. You make a refugee claim that you state is successful/ accepted to include your spouse and eligibility for OHIP. However you post too that you can't afford the application fees and PMM responds with confirmation that there isn't a pay later option.

4. You refer to your spouse being on a work permit and you wanting to apply for an open spousal permit.

5. You refer to 4 year timeline in TO and again enquire as to PR options - you are a refugee claimant and so is your spouse with each of you as dependents of the other so why ask this question as if you had not applied for anything?

6. Your spousal question has been covered in the FC forum

So did you ever graduate or do you need to look into this too? If so you can apply for the relevant PR stream or are you going to wait for the refugee claim to be decided. Your situation shows some of the reasons the Canadian immigration system is backlogged in the refugee class...its a back up plan for many!
