Spouse and child travelling with temporary work permit holder

My husband is applying for a temporary work permit to work in Canada for just 1 year (2014). My husband, son and myself are all british citizens. My son and I will accompany my husband for the full year as well. Do my 4 year old son and myself need to apply for any kind of visa or can we stay in Canada for 1 year with our British passport? I will definitely not be working in Canada.

If you are entering Canada with him, just have yourself and the child added as dependents on his work permit, and you will get the same time as a visitor. Otherwise, you would be admitted for 6 months (usually) and have to apply for an extension of your visitor status.
