Hi there,

My first post on the forum)
I am a Canadian citizen currently sponsoring my wife from Russia into Canada from outside (no children)
I have a question with respect to IMM5406 and 5569.

She has an older sister (over 18) and both parents (none of them 3 coming to Canada). Does she also have to get birth certificate copies for all of them? (i.e. mother, father, sister) as well as have them all submit IMM5569 (background declaration).

Can you please provide some guidance?

Thank You.

Unless Russia has some country-specific rules that I'm unaware of (and the only ones I know pertain to travel dates and military service), if she's the only one coming over to Canada, she's the only one who'll need a birth certificate and a background declaration. She'll need to provide the details about her immediate family that those two forms ask for (name - in English and Cyrillic, date and place of birth, marital status, address), but that's all.
