Hi

My name is Fariha. Ive couple of questions and right now i am very confused about it. I dont know what to do and whom should i ask. Jus came across this forum so i joined it just today.

Actually i want to sponser my commom law partner who is an international student here in Canada BC. He is in Canada since four years. I am a divorced girl. My X husband sponsored me and i got my PR in feb 2010. I dont have citizenship yet so can i sponser my common law partner?

Thanks

Not at the present time.

See http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob386.asp - there is now a five year bar on a new PR sponsoring a foreign partner or spouse. So you won't be eligible to sponsor until February 2015.

Sorry. :(

OMG really?

But ive nobody over here in Canada ..No family..i left my X husband bcz of domestic voilance and i was on social assistance because he was dangerous for me and i was not able to work.. since a year ive been living with my common law partner whom i met last year. but he is an international student.. cant i sponser him ?

is there a DEAD NO ??? :-(

It doesn't matter unfortunately. As computergeek said, you have to wait until 2015 to sponsor him. This is definitely a "dead no".

Instead of being sponsored by you, perhaps your common law partner can apply to immigrate through the Canadian Experience Program if/when he qualifies.
