Spousal sponsorship: when sponsor is not based in Canada

Hi all

I am struggling to get clarity on my particular situation and what route I am required to follow -

My husband holds Canadian citizenship but was neither born there nor lives there. He obtained citizenship from his late father who did live there.

We are now looking immigrate to Canada.

If my husband has citizenship but does not reside there, and never has, am I still pursuing the spousal sponsorship route?

Any advice would be very much appreciated!!

Yes, he can sponsor you. Part of the application is to give proof (thus a plan) of his intend to move to Canada.

Exactly. You'll have to show proof you will actually live in Canada once given PR. You and your spouse should begin scouting potential jobs, apartments/houses, etc., and include whatever you've done in your application.
