Hi forum-mates and kababayans,

I would like to ask for advice about our situation.

My boyfriend and I eloped last November and now we are so stressed on how to answer the forms.

I married my boyfriend of three years last November. We had a civil wedding and had only two friends as witnesses. My husband stayed in the Philippines for only 3 weeks and left for Canada again to continue his studies.

We still plan to have a traditional church wedding with all our family and friends in April 2016. I've already booked a church and a couple of suppliers for our church wedding (i have contracts and receipts).

We decided to have a civil wedding last November so we could start the sponsorship early. We kept it a secret because we knew our parents would be disappointed that we did not wait to get married in the church. Both of our parents are very traditional and we know that they would not understand.

When we started to check the required immigration forms just last month, that's when we started to get worried because we saw the questions about the ceremony and whether our parents were present or not.

Here are my questions:

1. If we mention in the application that we kept our civil wedding a secret from our parents, will the visa officer see this as a red flag and reject our application? Our parents are aware of our relationship and I have photos of my husband with my family when he was still in the country. They're just not aware that we got married.

2. Do we still have a chance for approval of our sponsorship application? Should we push through with the application or are we doomed to fail?

3. Is there anyone here who's been in the same situation? (Eloped but was approved for spousal application)

4. My husband is still a student but he will graduate this April. Will he be approved to sponsor?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if they are testing our patience and nerves..canadian embassy Manila is not only working on Filipino applications, but also from some Asian country.

Very trying on the nerves is right!
It has been really difficult to turn down my recent airline offers to be able to go and visit my wife.
We are trying to wait it out so I can fly over and we can fly back together. :D (really hope its before her meds expire this year)

The other hard thing is being able to see my temporary resident visa application for a year to be with her in Thailand sitting here on my desk.

And this true chris,it's very difficult..why can't we be with our spouses for 6 months if it was not hard application?even my husband has to travel after two months just to be with me while waiting ..and it's also hard for him travelling each time without travelling back to canada with me. :'( :'( :'(..it really hurts us all..what if all of us outland applicants gather together and complain about this to our visa offices..I don't think it won't be a problem to them especially if we're so many..

I don't think it would help, here is why..
First of all there appears to be a lot of procedures that are out sourced, where the VO would not have any control of the time line completion.

Our GCMS notes seem to validate my above statement. There were multiple requests made back to Mississauga from Manila in which also took a bit of time to be completed.

As well in the notes there were some verifications completed by an out sourced U.S based entity. I think there is more to all of this time that it takes to process our applications other then just blaming the VO. If you/sponsor have not ordered the notes yet it is quite enlightening once its understood at what has been happening with the application.

Its hard to complete unification when your outside sources are slow.
IE in our case the NSO and NBI.
Example it took 6mths for the NSO to process our Report of Marriage. Is that not a little long for something that seems so simple? As it would be just data entry into a a data base.

Yes I agree too with the express entry it may have slowed spousal apps down however there is a large bottle neck with information transfer between the different governmental departments of Canada and the other countries and their own departments where CIC requests information.

Back to my previous post about the U.S entity processing a request for CEM it shows on the notes the attempted date ....then a delay...then finally a completion date. CEM had no control over the timeline of that request to the U.S.

We all just need to help keep each others spirits up through this very trying process. Stay positive as difficult as that is and we will all get through this hopefully in the near future..

Hahaha you make me laugh about how you report your marriage ? Are you a foreign? As I'm a Filipino and I've been dealing with nso,do you think it will took 6 months to report your marriage? Ours was not, I don't let them make it slow, I worked for it..been travelling our documents to we're is our marriage held and registered it there with my husband and I'm the one did the rest.. That is how you called transmittal form of electronic endorsement to republic of the philippines Philippine statistics authority so you will be registered on nso ..national statistics office..To be honest I can give you the proof that it said I can claim our marriage certificate after 1-2 weeks and you can make follow ups to take it fast.im very hardworking on documents,I'm not afraid of dealing it to any establishment and you can talk very well to them as well..well I'm sorry it toook yours for 6 months as it's aren't true..I know how Filipino works documents ..if you just let them work for it it might be forgotten or take it later..our marriage is April 21, and our documents were all registered and legal in Phil's ,I got it may 5 same year. It's how people works on it.
