Spousal Sponsorship For Wife - Cancer Survivor.

I am a Canadian Citizen residing in Canada . I am in ON to be precise.

My wife is in Delhi, India . She is Indian citizen. She is a Cancer Survivor. She is FREE from Cancer for the last 8 years. No recurrence or relapse has happened in the last 8 years.

She got the Cancer in her early 20 's . Now she is in her early 30's . The Cancer from which she is fully cured is HODGKINS LYMPHOMA. The prognosis so far looks very good.

Will there be any problem sponsoring her to Canada as a spouse ? Will there be any issues in her Medical ? Will OHIP ( ON Health Plan ) have any issues ?

Will Medical Inadmissibility be an issue for sponsoring a spouse, who is a Cancer survivor ? Has anyone else been in the same situation as me and successfully sponsored their spouse, with prior history of Cancer ?

A spouse cannot be refused for having cancer (or for having had cancer in the past). No issues with OHIP either - she will be covered just like anyone else. However do consider that OHIP coverage doesn't kick in until three months after she arrives.

Thanks for the quick reply. So this will be a normal application just like any other spousal application. Do I have to do anything extra than what is required ?

I mean the normal application is quite extensive in itself , with all the forms, criminal background checks, Medical etc etc.

Do I or she has to do anything extra during her Medical ?

Yes I might buy her insurance for the 3 Months, when she doesn't have OHIP

It is just a normal sponsorship. If CIC wants more tests done because of the cancer, they will ask for them later. If the doctor doing the medical wants more tests done, he or she will let you know then. Most likely they will not ask for anything beyond the normal medical. In any case, even if they do want more tests or more information, your wife cannot be refused because of this.
