Spousal Sponsorship - Does Spouse need work Visa if he continues to work for US company remotely as a Canadian Permanent Resident?

Spouse intends to keep his position and work remotely which his company allows. My question is whether, through the immigration process, he will need to apply for a work visa or not? I appreciate insight and any further insight on working for a US company from Canada that may be relevant.

If that company does business in Canada / has Canadian customers then he needs a work permit. Otherwise no.
