Hi All, Kindly review my case and please post your suggestions. It would be a great help. Thanks everyone in advance for your time and suggestions.

I applied for PR in Sept 2020 under a family (spousal) class from India. I got the passport request mail from CIC in Sept 2021. I now have 30 days to submit my passport but I'm a 7th month pregnant. The options we are currently thinking about at the moment were as following.

Option 1: Submit the passport for Visa stamping and travel to Canada.

My doctor advised travelling in the 7th month of pregnancy will be at high risk and is not advised during pandemic. Also, As soon as I land in Toronto, I have to wait for 3 months of mandatory wait time to get my OHIP. The medical expenses would be on us which are expensive and aren't affordable by us. So, we are dropping out of option 1.

Option 2: I will submit my Passport for Visa stamping assuming that I will get at least 6 months time to land in Canada. By the time I give birth to my baby in Jan 2022, I will apply for his/her passport and submit a Visitor Visa requesting IRCC to allow my baby to travel along with me to Canada. Once I land in Canada, I'm thinking to apply for PR.

What would be more suggestible to do in my case at the moment? Please let me know if you think of any other ways to approach/request IRCC regarding my situation.

Again, Thank you so much.

Thank you for your inputs, it really helps.

I checked the same with service ontario about the Health card. You were right, the waiting period is waived off. However, we need to submit 3 documents. out of which, they have asked for proof of residency address in Ontario. How can I get it right away after landing?

I heard that Ontario photo ID proof takes nearly 4-6 weeks. So, we are dropping our plans to come to Canada.

The only reason being we cannot afford my medical expenses.

There are several different ways - one is to add the applicant (newly-landed immigrant) to something like an insurance policy, effective of the date of arrival. Once a copy of this change is made, use that to show residence in Ontario.

Another is a lease agreement which lists the person as a resident under the lease. (We used this to show place of residence for our children).

Once you have these - take them to Service Ontario office and show and they should/will provide a letter with an OHIP number that states 'you are eligible' and 'you may use this transaction record with proper identification pending receipt of your ohip card.' (Paraphrasing)

We did this and got this done on the first day after getting out of quarantine (which will not be required if you meet the vaccination requirements). [Actually second day, first day we got the first shot of vaccine.]

Note, I'm NOT of course giving advice about whether it makes sense to travel in anyone's specific circumstances, esp regarding pregnancy; just saying it is possible to show residence and get OHIP coverage quickly in Ontario shortly after arriving.

Firstly, thank you so much for your inputs. I checked with the above information and it really works at the moment. We moved a step forward and submitted the passport for stamping. Great help! Really appreciate.

Just in case, if we cannot make it before baby's birth, what could be the circumstances?

Baby can't get visa before my visa expires. The process need atleast an year for my baby to get PR under family sponsorship. Can we let IRCC aware of the situation, Can we expect any help from IRCC asking for baby's documents in my application? Even though my passport has a landing visa stamp?

when was your medical done? That will give us an idea about the expiry date of the COPR. If your COPR expires after you give birth you would resubmit while adding your baby to the sponsorship application, Given that pregnant woman are at serious risk of ending up in hospital with covid I would contact IRCC. The risk of your health and the potential cost saving to the Canadian healthcare system should be enough to lead to an extension. There is a possibility that you’d have to redo your medical after birth depending on when your last medical was done.

I have completed my medicals in April 2021. Hoping the landing visa expires on the same date.

Okay. Now this gave me an idea of what could be the outcomes if birth happen in india. Thanks for your time and quick response.

if your COPR expires in April 2022 you can have your baby in your home country and apply to add the baby to the sponsorship application.

Yeah, after baby's birth in Jan 2022, before the copr expires in April 2022, I will contact IRCC to consider my baby to be added to my application.

Thanks for your help again.

You need to submit the baby’s application to be added to the sponsorship application. You’ll need to get the baby’s ID first. Would prepare the documents in advance so you only need to add information after the birth and collect documents.

Yeah. Sure. Will be on it as soon as birth happens. Thank you!

Thank you all so much for your valuable time and suggestions. I entered Canada on Oct 13th, 2021, served 14 days quarantine and approached Service Ontario with my ID and Rental agreement as proof of Residence. They issued the OHIP right away.

Without all your inputs, I would have ended up being in India, and that scenario at this moment, we can't even imagine.

With best regards, Thanks again.

Special Thanks to you! We changed our minds and braced ourselves to come to Canada. Service Ontario accepted Rental agreement as Prrof of residence and with no waiting period they issued OHIP right away.

I'm blessed with a baby boy.

Thanks again
