This is a very good question. Whenever we see family its part of our cultural identity to bring sweets.

There is a section on the declaration form:
Meat/meat products; dairy products; fruits;
vegetables; seeds; nuts; plants and animals or their
parts/products; cut flowers; soil; wood/wood
products; birds; insects.

My mother has been retired for the past 10 years. She have rheumatoid arthritis and the Canadian winter is very hard on her.
She has a winter home in Mexico. So every year when the Canadian winter is over and I see my mother return from Mexico.
I help her with her luggage and unpack. And I always see nuts, snacks and sweets in her luggage.
So when I saw your question, I had to call my mother.
When asked about this, my mother responded:
"I answer truthfully yes on the declaration card where it states meat products, dairy products, nuts... When the CBSA officer questions me about this "I tell him I have a couple of bags of nuts" or "I have some sweets with nuts on them" and they respond to her, "Go, ahead".
She has been honest with them and haven't had any issues.

Sweets, dates, etc are not an issue at all to bring to Canada. If officer asks, just tell them some sweets are in the bag.

Do not bring meats though.

Jewellery: carry it in your purse/carry-on bag, and make sure the bag is locked. In the plane people can fall asleep, and there are reports that some people steal things from people's bags etc when they're asleep......i know its a long flight, but keep an eye on your purses/bags

Don't worry about CBSA. Even if you make a mistake on the forms or are unable to fill it correctly, CBSA knows it can be hard for first-time arrivals.
They have staff at airport that help make it easy for newcomers. As long as you're polite and friendly and honest, you will have no difficulties.
Most of the immigration officers are very nice. It will be a pleasant experience compared to Pakistani airports, thats for sure.

Looking for some answers if anyone can help!

I submitted my application in December 2013

Application moved in Jan 2014 to LVO

In November 2014 LVO asked for re medical

In December 2014 LVO asked for a form which i missed, copy of passport bio page, height and eyes color.

Since then i am waiting for their response, it is already more than three months. My understanding was that it was PPR1 step and they will move me up to PPR2 step soon. Only twice LVO has updated the status once when they opened the file and second time when they received the medical.

In Process on 14th Dec, 2014
Remedical was asked for on 3rd Feb, 2015

Got an Email on 31st Mar, 2015

Dear Sir/Madam,

We are writing with regards to your family-class application for permanent residence in Canada.

Please be advised that, in order for us to finalise your application, we require the following:

- Copy of the bio-page of the current passport for you and your dependents.

Please submit the requested documentation/information to us within 14 days by return email.

Sincerely,

High Commission of Canada/Haut-commissariat du Canada
Immigration Section/Service d'immigration (p.p. SXB)
Canada House/Maison du Canada

I dont know what stage of processing is this, means I have heard that there is no PPR1 required now a days, which even isnt asked for, this way.. Like it is always asked with some information sheet, height, eye colour etc..

Please enlighten...

I'm beginning to think there is something wrong in the forms with filling them in as you are not the first who has been asked to fill the form with info on your bio-page. But they need the info to continue your case so send them what they want meaning height and eye color. I pray your case is done soon In Sha Allah...

May be you are right, but the thing is they havent even sent any form or asked to fill anything..

I have just sent them the scan copies of bio data page of the pps...

Hello Fellow Members, As previously shared that my spouse has received her visa to travel. We have applied for our sons Cnd PP (Application Received by ISL- High Commission on March 16,2015) and booked tickets for the April 19,2015. Can you plz share your experience on receiving pp and how long usually it takes???? VERY CONCERNED....

Second question is, during travelling. Can she carry powdered milk for the kids or do they provide that in the flight? Does powdered milk has to be sealed ? She is transiting at Qatar and London? so eventually she will have to open that milk package. Just want to make sure this doesn't cause any problems as she will be a first time traveler?

Does she need to bring any filled forms before seeing the border agency in Canada? Or just her landing papers/ pp with visa is all she needs? Thanks
