Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
My boyfriend and I want to get married in Canada so I could apply for my residency there. The question is I'm fairly sure my boyfriend won't be able to actually sponsor me, we'd both be in university with side jobs. My boyfriend has canadian and US citizenship, and I have german and trinidadian citizenship. Is it possible to have a third party sponsor me, or does it HAVE to be him? If so, does the third party sponsor have to live in canada or can they be in the US as well? Thank you!

Your boyfriend is the only one who can sponsor you. Why do you think he won't be able to sponsor you? There are no minimum income requirements to sponsor a spouse.

because neither of us live in canada at the moment, we'd be moving there together and then he'd probably get an average waiting job or retail job. We're both 20 lol

The challenge he will have is proving he intends to live in Canada, this is a requirement for sponsors who are living abroad. It will be hard to prove that if he's living in another country for a long time, and because he's young with limited job prospects (you mention he'd be working retail or waiting job despite having university education).

we'll be applying inland, so he'd apply for a university and get a job there before we get married, i'd fly in with my tourist visa.

If you have German citizenship, I would apply outland. The processing will most likely be much faster and you'll be able to work sooner.

seriously though, how hard is it to get approved to sponsor your spouse?

current wait time to get approved to be a sponsor is about 60 days. CIC just started processing applications received may 1. How long outland takes for the applicant depends on the visa office handling the file.
