Can someone break down the fees for me? I'm quite confused. My husband is sponsoring me (his wife) and my daughter (his step-daughter). And how does paying for it work? Do we submit a check with the application? Or is it done online?

It's paid online with a credit card, then you print the receipt and submit it with the application package.

Here is the link from the cic website regarding paying fees for spousal/family sponsorship. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/result.asp?lob=fc&cat=spon

Thanks for the link. Do we pay the $475 Principal Applicant fee as well as the $550 Spouse fee?

Sponsorship Application (75.00) + Principal Applicant (475.00) + Your daughter (if under the age of 19) (150.00) = 700.00

If you have it in your budget, you should also pay the $490 Right of permanent residence fee (RPRF) with the initial payment. You can pay it later, but it will delay the application if you wait for the visa office to request it.

I'm not sure how it works with a dependent child, if you will have to pay the RPRFfor her as well, as I don't have experience with sponsoring a child along with a spouse.

Dependents are not required to pay RPRF. In this case total fees including RPRF will be:
75.00 (Sponsorship) + 475.00 (Principal Applicant) + 150.00 (Dependent) + 490.00 (RPRF) = 1190.00

For the immigration physical/medical exam, do we need to wait for results or can we get something the same day to prove that we got one?

Most PP,s will give you a letter that you have completed the Medical Examination. You can enclose that letter with your application. Ask for it.

Thank you for all your answers. We are planning on submitting our paperwork by the end of the month. We're still waiting on that darn FBI police check.
