Hello there.

I am here in Canada now, I have sponsored my family here (spouse and children), now I would like to ask if there is a chance to sponsor my unmarried parents. I am using the family name of my mother in my birth certificate, but not my father? Is there any chances of waiving this? or any steps? or can I sponsor my mom, but not my dad?

Can you enlighten please. Thank you.

Yeah instead of marriage certificate use common law form imm signed by oath commissioner. Ur parents declare that they are in commonlaw relationship with proof. It is simple

Thanks jhutti. so means they will fill up also the statutory declaration (common-law) IMM form, attaching the required documents as well right? thanks again.

If your parents are living together, then they are common-law so practically the same as married. You would submit a single application to sponsor 1 parent as primary applicant, and the other as their spouse/dependent. As mentioned above just have them complete the stat declaration of common-law form as specified on CIC site.

If they are not living together (separated), then you can still sponsor them both but would need to do it under 2 separate applications.

Of course to sponsor parents you will need to show 3 years of Canadian tax returns equaling LICO for your family size. If it's you + spouse + kid + 2 parents that's family size of 5, so would need to show income around $65K. Add around $8K for each additional child you have.
To apply in January 2017, you would need to show this income for 2013, 2014 and 2015.
