Sponsoring Parents - what are the requirement?

Hi,

We are migrating to Canada early next year, and part of our plan is to sponsor immediately our parents / parents in-law.

Please advise what are the requirements for new PR and timeline?

Two key requirements are that you must be living in Canada in order to sponsor your parents. You must also meet the low income cut off (i.e. make enough money to support them and yourselves). The low income cut off amounts are listed here. The size of your family unit should be calculated to include yourself, your husband/wife, your children (if any), and the parents you are going to sponsor:

The time lines for sponsorship are:

1) 39 months at the Mississauga office

PLUS

2) the approximately time displayed on this page for your parents country of origin:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-parents.asp

Your processing office appears to be Manila. If it's the same for your parents, then their processing time will be 69 months (39 + 30).
