How was it last year guys when they announced the cap reached, what is the actual discrepancy of this date to the last applicant charged?

I dont see it charged yet, but my available credit reduced by $1100, I should be able to see it tomorrow.

Which jayhv is right in the Google spreadsheet? There are 2 of them and none has a recv'd date of Jan 2, 2015.

Last year, CIC officially announced that they received 5000 app on Monday, Feb 3, 2014. From the 2014 PGP Timeline created by this forum users, the last CC was charged on Friday, Jan 31, 2014. But others informed later that their CC got charged long after the cap was filled.

Obviously, this year, there are lot more applications CIC received in the first couple of days. Hence, they announced early so that they don't have to receive any more app and return them at their own cost.

I believe Jan 16th was the last day the application was added to the 5000 cap. This is due to a lot of applications being rejected in the thousands. Now these people won't make the same mistake. So not surprising that the cap was reached with applications sent on Jan 2nd alone.

Hi brother,

Do you know what is the last date of application received against which CC was charged for 2014 PGP? This could give us fair estimation. Can you please share us the last year's spreadsheet link?

Jan 16 if I recall was the last application that was added to the cap.

I am trying to think it in a positive way. Last year after a long long time, if it took 16 days to get it fill up, this year it may take at least 4-5 days. Good thing is that 5000 have already been selected. So global applicants also have been reduced by 5000 ;D ;D.

Let's wait.

What do you mean by 16 days to get fill up? I wonder how long was it they were talking about for last year before the other are charged.

Is it true that when we call to CIC, they will tell the order in which your application was received?

From 2014 timeline,

The last application rcv'd by CIC that was charged was:

Some Jan 20 applicants were charged on Jan 30-31.

I was close in my estimation, off by 4 days.

Notice – Parent and Grandparent program update

Ottawa, January 16, 2015 — Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has received 5,000 new, complete Parent and Grandparent program (PGP) applications for 2015. Intake is now paused and any applications received before intake reopens will be returned to the applicant.

CIC’s backlog elimination efforts remain on track, and our efforts to reunite families faster continue.

Parents and grandparents who wish to visit their family in Canada can continue to apply for the Parent and Grandparent Super Visa. The Super Visa remains a fast, convenient option for parents and grandparents wanting to spend an extended period of time in Canada with their families. To date, more than 45,000 Super Visas have been issued.

Canada has one of the most generous family reunification programs in the world. Since 2012, Canada has welcomed more than 70,000 parents, grandparents and their dependents through the PGP program. This year, Canada will welcome an additional 20,000 as part of the Action Plan for Faster Family Reunification.

I want to correct you.

But for this year, I don't think Jan 5th, 2015 arrived would stand any chance. Sorry to say that.

Each year going forward as more and more people miss out on the cap, and more people become qualified during the year, the time to reach the cap will become quicker and quicker. Within a year or two CPC-M will most likely get more than 5000 apps on the very first day the program opens each January if they keep the same rules in force. Then it will really be a fight for using the best delivery service, or CIC will implement a random selection of all apps received on first day to see who makes it.
