I know you have been waiting a long time for this, so I am not frustrated there.

Although, it is frustrating to see people who applied after us get their DM before us. (That doesn't mean that I am angry at them, just frustrated at the whole process)

I hear ya. My jaw drops when I see someone with a 2014 application date announcing news of their COPR. I am happy for them but it does increase the frustration level.

I am just wondering if we can get the jump on my partner's file and start the process for the criminal record (she is in Canada now).

Or should we wait for Manila to request a new one (the one we submitted was done a few months before we applied: July 2012)?

Didn't your spouse submit a police check when you first filed?

Yes but it was from July 2012. (We did it while we were in Korea together)

I am one of those people who got a DM quickly. I was fully prepared for the 14 months wait. It's actually a bit harder for us having to leave so early.
I really hope you get a decision soon. I couldn't imagine having to wait so long.
Good luck!!

Well in that case, I believe they are failed for 3 months, so why not then.

ooops, valid. No idea how that happened.

Ahhhhhhh that makes sense now.

We will head over to the consulate here in Montreal tomorrow and start the process. They say it takes 2-3 weeks outside of Korea. After which we can send it to Manila.

Does your spouse have any immediate family member (mother/father) that still live in Korea? If so, they she doesn't need to go to the consulate. She can pretty much do it all by email and have them send the new police check to Manila.

She does but she doesn't want to put them out (that whole Confucianism thing ;D). I am trying to nudge her to do it.

Okay I don't get thatn but it would just be so much easier and cheaper to do it the way my wife did.

Me too. It's great that processing times for Korean applications seemed to have gotten shorter. It's kind of hard to understand why they are approving 2014 applicants when there are applications from 2012 and 2013 still outstanding. It makes no sense.

So we just got back from the consulate in Montreal. As it turns out, the only way to do it is through someone in Korea (in this case a family member).

I was wondering how your wife was able to get her criminal record through email. At the consulate they asked her to fill out some forms to allow her family member to get her police report.
