Yes, lets hope that is the case for sure. Maybe bart will get PPR after sending in the new CBC. He applied in March - just 6 months ago! So, that would be great time.

I doubt it. They asked for the document in 45 days. I got it to them in 9 days, but my guess is that 45 days is when they will look at my file again.

Remember that for visa-exempt passport holders, a visa is not actually required to be put into the passport.

In our case, there was no PPR. They just mailed out the COPR as a final step. Though this was through former Seoul office, perhaps Manila just does PPR for everyone even if they don't really require it (like from Korea, Japan etc).

Yes, if they follow Seoul office method you will not get a PPR. Sometimes they will ask for updated photocopy of the bio page of passport you can just email to them.

So basically your status will change to "Decision Made" online, and then several weeks later you'll get the COPR (Confirmation of Permanent Residence) by snail mail. This is an official document with a photograph attached that is used for your landing, so can't be emailed. There are 2 copies of COPR... 1 is filled in and given to the immigration officer when you do the official landing and they mail it to CIC to get your PR card... and the 2nd is yours to keep forever.

Again though, not sure if Manila will ask for passports or not but technically they don't need to. So just don't be surprised if you suddenly go to DM without a PPR.

Nope. Coming to the end of the "14 month" processing time though. November will be 14 months ... give or take.

Totally jealous of anyone who has been getting theirs done faster.

My ecas still says ...

1. We received your application for permanent residence on April 11, 2012.

2. We started processing your application on September 10, 2012.

3. Medical results have been received.

Been like that for ages.

I didn't even receive notification that I'd been approved for sponsorship but was told by CIC that it was done in July 2012. FML.

Say, when the COPR is issued, does anybody know what the time period might be for when the applicant needs to be in Canada? Is it 6 months or something?

We sent our application to Mississauga (when the VO was still open in Seoul) and it was sent back there for processing after sponsorship was approved. Seoul then asked for a Criminal Record Check - FOR ME (likely knowing that it would take five months for them the CRC to be done and knowing that they'd be closing and be able to forward our application on to Manila, so said the guy I spoke to at CIC) and it did take 5 months for the CRC but then the RCMP thought they were doing me a favour by sending the CRC to Seoul rather than to me, so I had to go and get it and send to Manila myself. Hence, still waiting. The last official communication we had with any embassy was when they asked for additional documents back in August 2012. Then, off an on, we've emailed asking for updates and have occasionally got an answer.

No idea when it's going to be done.

But still wondering, when the COPR does finally come, what time frame do applicants usually have before they're required to arrive in Canada?

I understand it to be 12 months from date od medical exam. If 12 months lapses before its complete the medical can be extended or a new one requested.

Correct me if i am wrong:

PPR takes 2-3 weeks from passport submission.

COPR is the final PR approval doc. that we get via email. We get a stamp on that doc. upon landing. That doc. then becomes a temporary PR until the card is received at the address on the application. It takes 1 month to receive via snail mail.
