How long ago did you start applying for jobs?

I applied for 6 back in late June. We are here til PR approval unless a good can. job pans out before PR. If not, just wait for PR and apply in person. My strategy is to apply for positions with high salaries and career potential at first and see. I'm applying only in alberta.

Are you using a specific site to catch those high salary gig? Monster.ca or something?

Many-many of sites like that. At least 10-15 sites. I just subscribe to various job searches and get ads. in my email everyday.

One of the questions I had at one point was whether or not we were able to leave Korea and go back to Canada before the process is finished but I guess since we don't have to go through the passport request process, just get the COPR we can basically do whatever we like eh?

Guess I better get my @$$ in gear and start looking at jobs too then lol

It did go to Seoul. Request for more documents was sent in September when the process was started and that's when they asked for the CRC. The funny thing is ... when we went to the Seoul embassy (to the immigration and visa), they said to go upstairs to the consulate and get the form for finger printing and CRC. When we went up to the consulate, they had no idea what I & V was talking about.

Anyway, we go the form, fingerprints done at the police station in Seoul, mailed it to Ottawa in the same day and then waited 5 months before the fingerprints were sent to Seoul (and the Manila via me).

Is this timeline making sense?

July 2012- SA granted, file forwarded to Seoul
Sept 2012- Seoul visa office requests CRC for sponsor
February 2013- CRC submitted to Seoul and forwarded to Manila

That timeline mostly makes sense. It seems a little long for SA which, as Rob said, usually only takes a month.

I'm in agreement with Rob. The CRC request was probably made in error. Why would a Seoul VO be looking into the criminal background of someone CIC had already approved as sponsor. It makes no sense. Had they not made that request, the Seoul VO likely would have finished processing your application before it closed in January 2013.

It might be helpful to email the consulate in Seoul and ask why the VO there requested the CRC. Perhaps someone in Seoul can explain it or alternatively, admit that it was an error. If they admit that it was an error, perhaps they would be kind enough to contact the folks in Manila and get them to move your application to the front of the queue. It's a long shot but it might be worth a try.

In any case, your file went to Manila in Feb 2013, which means that you're still within the normal timelines for processing there. Yours is an unfortunate case, but I think at this point you have no choice but to just wait out the process. Hopefully they grant your wife PR by the end of the year.

off topic: Cycling Incheon to Busan on the new bike roads. I did this 2 weeks ago. One of my best experiences in Korea. I rec. it to anyone before leaving Korea. Miles and miles with no people or cars. Sometimes just riding through rice paddies, apple orchards, etc.

Rode 633 km lost 5 lbs!

And I agree, I think it was an error on the part of Seoul VO. Unless the Seoul VO knew that the CRC would take awhile, knew they'd be shutting down and wanted to have our app moved to Manila.

I read through the instructions and it seems that I should be sending all the documents to Mississauga. But she is seeing on Korean boards that application documents should be sent to Manila.

Where should we mail the application?

You must mail it to Mississauga. The application forms and docs go to Mississauga first. They process the sponsor's application there and then they forward the file to Manila.

Don't snail mail it. Use a courier like UPS not Korea Post. That way you can track it online. AND be sure to use the designated courier address for Missisauga.
