Re: the return ticket. How long from your arrival date is it to your return ticket departure date? We'll be buying a return ticket for my husband, but I'm not sure how long the stay in Canada should be before the return date. We'll get a ticket with cancellation insurance, or a refundable ticket, but for the sake of pleasing immigration, I'm not sure how far apart the arrival and departure dates should be.

Typically for a visa-exempt traveler, you would get a 6-month visitor stamp on the spot when you arrive in Canada. So if immigration officer asks about a return flight (lots of times they don't even care), it should be for anytime up to but not going over 6 months later.

Yes. We booked ours for 6 months less a couple days.

Thank you both for your help. :)

On my wife's 'Generic Application form for Canada,' under the section "National Identity document" for number 1, we clicked 'yes' for the info, is it okay to use my wife's ID card? or should it be a passport or another document?

Stupid question:

we have no children, and no dependents, so she doesn't have to fill out the form "Additional dependents declaration" correct?

1) We photocopied wifes passport (it has english) and the ID Card (in Korean).

2) No - re additional dep

Don't think you needed to photocopy her ID card K2C, as her ID number is already on one of the forms you have to get translated and notorized.

We put a copy of both in to be sure. As one of the guys mentioned, with the office moved to Manila it's a good idea to toss in a copy.

Hey, K2C, I notcied that we both don't have any 'good' rating yet. If you give me a 'good' I will give you one too, what do you say?

My wife is going to send off her stuff to be translated today or tomorrow, but don't think she will put that in. We have already copied the first page of her passport, so don't think that is necessay. The old adage, too much information may not be a good thing.

p.s.

Still waiting on my option C

We didn't translate or certify the ID Card, just photocopied it. Same same with passport.

p.s. wife is getting her medical done on Friday...next stop UPS thank God!

One last question, for today.

Document checklist, number 22. What the hell is that? "Identity and civil status documents"? Is that her ID card? Driver's license?

Congrats and good luck about the wife and her medical.

Mine will probably get hers done next week.

Identity - ID Card and/or passport (we went wit both)

Civil Status - all those "GU" documents

So we are done with that then, once those "GU" documents are translated and notorized.
