What kind of job did you get?

Also change your address but keep your wife's the same, assuming she is living at the same address in Korea.

Thank you! My degree is in Sport Management, so I'll be working in the athletics departments at a university here! Pretty pumped!

Question: I've recently just found our permanent place to live here (currently staying with a friend, wife still in Korea till Sept) Should I be contacting Manila now with my updated mailing address? The reason I ask this is because for us, it doesn't really matter at this point in time, as I'm here, but my wife is still in Korea for the next 6 weeks.

If i SHOULD be changing it right away (my mailing address here), can anyone hook me up with an email or a phone number to call?

Thank you!
In terms of your own address, you can do that on ECAS. It probably doesn't matter much since you already have sponsorship approval and it's unlikely they will be sending you any more documents.

You can advise the Manila office of your wife's change of address here https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/case-cas-eng.aspx?mission=manila

Personally, I'd change my wife's address about 4 weeks before she leaves since it takes them time to process the address change and it's better to have any correspondence forwarded to where she is going as opposed to where she soon will no longer be.

Quick question for those who have already landed.

If our flight connects in Vancouver, do we have to do the landing process in Vancouver OR at our final destination (Toronto)?

Also, can my husband fly on a one-way ticket with a COPR?

Thanks for your help!

You "land" in the first city you arrive at in Canada. So for you that will be Vancouver. Make sure you have enough of a connection time in case they are busy or short staffed, and you have to wait to do landing process. Vancouver to Toronto flight will be a domestic one so no immigration when arriving in Toronto.

Should be able to fly 1-way with COPR and visa-exempt passport, but that is ultimately up to the airline you are taking.

We have my wife's COPR and one-way tickets.

Is there a requirement to notify Korean authorities that my wife is emmigrating?
Does the CDN government require us to inform the Korean government? [I'd rather not notify them, I can't see anything good coming from it.]

Thank you for your help, this site is great (better than the immigration website).

Hey, I recognize your username from AFEK !

I have never heard of such a thing. My husband is going to keep a bank account open.

But let me know if you find out that it's true.

No, no and no.

I'm not sure about doing taxes in Korea though i.e. a Canadian that moves abroad can voluntarily become a non-resident with the CRA

For those who want to make a case-specific enquiry, I found this link: https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/case-cas-eng.aspx?mission=manila
Has anyone changed the address of the person being sponsored? If yes, how long did it take?

We submitted an address change mid-June and it is still unchanged.

My last GCMS notes show zero changes.

We are rounding the corner on TWO years and I am at my wit's end.

That's the right link. Do your GCMS notes show that they received your enquiry advising them of the change of address? In my notes, the VO adds the full text of every enquiry I have ever made through that link. Do you see that they at least received your communication regarding the address change anywhere in your notes?

Not my last notes. However, I am just in the process of submitting again.

That's odd. If you advised them of the change of address through that link, it should show up in your notes. Maybe you can use that link to advise them of the address change again. Tell them it's the second time you've done it and ask them to confirm that they know your new address.

BTW, I can't remember if you have already involved your MP in the process. If you haven't, and you're coming up on two years, I'd definitely do that. Calls from our MP seemed to get the VO moving on my wife's file, which had been sitting around without activity since last December.

My MP was involved around the 12-month mark. His assistant told us that it was in line to be reviewed. And to re-contact her after 14 months, which I did. It turned out that our CSQ was missing in action. We sent the MP a copy who forwarded it to Manila. A few weeks after, we got the second medical request. Since then nothing and nothing in the notes. I know that sooner or later we are getting to get a request for a recent police check. I am going to contact my MP again.

This is crazy ridiculous how long this is taking.
