Hi,

It is great news that my application for sponsoring my kid with a US passport as a PR in Canada has progressed soon and received an email today with subject 'Permanent Residence Portal (PR Confirmation) asking us to provide the details like UCI, name, eye color, height, entry details, etc within 7 days. However, we have a travel planned to outside of Canada from 14th Nov and returning on 30th November, 2025. I am in a dilemma/confusion as to what will happen. My understanding is that once I submit these details, an account will be created in the PR portal to confirm the PR landing (don't know how long this might take), and upon confirmation, after few days, the PR will be confirmed. After this stage, he might need a PR card or a PRTD to reenter Canada as we are flying to an airport. We are only travelling outside for 2 weeks and don't know how long the PRTD application will take.

I am requesting for suggestion on how to handle this situation. Should I send IRCC an email to hold the landing process until we are back, and if yes, is it safe to hold the process until Nov 30th, which is almost around 40 days from now. Or, in case if gets a PR confirmation before our travel, is there any exemption for US passport holders for the PR card ?

Many thanks in advance for guidance!!!

Yes there is an exemption for US passport holders and you can also indicate your travel plans in your email.
