Sponsoring Dependant Child

Can someone advise if a 7 year old child has to sign the application?
Child is in Thailand and mom/guardian is in Canada

The child must have a legal guardian in Thailand, or are they living on their own?

The guardian would sign for them. If that's their other parent, your own parents, or whomever is caring for your child.

Why couldn't the mother sign the application on behalf of the child
I don't see why we would need to send the application to Thailand and have a grandparent sign and then send back to Canada?
