Sponsoring Common-law Partner with Child from Previous Marriage

I have permanent residency here in Canada and going to sponsor my common-law partner that has a 12-year old child from previous marriage. On IMM0008 form, he is going to add the child as accompanying dependant. Does that mean that if my common-law partner gets approved, the dependant child is also approved as permanent resident? Will CIC then ask for signed consent from the other parent of the child?

Yes - it means the child will also get PR.

Yes - IRCC will require signed consent from the other parent of the child to approve the application.
