How did you qualify to sponsor your spouse and child? You need to prove that you can support yourself without welfare?

i was,
but not anymore
You have had likely a year without your family while you sponsored them. You should have been working and saving for their arrival. If you have no funds they perhaps should not come to Canada at this point. Do you have no savings?

Many people study and work at the same time. Your age has nothing to do with being unemployed.

You are liable for any welfare claimed by your spouse and it is based on the family unit. This means that if you claim welfare, you will have to pay some or all of it back.

It is not the responsibility of Canadian taxpayers to support your family. This is why you were required to show that you could support them when applying. If you can't, I suggest you delay their move to Canada until you can.
