Sponsor applying for public funds ..

At he present time Im employed but work is slowing down and the possibility of getting laid off might be in my future. My question is, Im just getting ready to send in our immigration application to Mississauga. Being my husbands sponsor, what would happen if i applied for public funds to help me get by while looking for another job. Any suggestions?

I forgot to add this is an outland application and my husband is in the UK.

If you are applying for EI, it will not affect you. If you are applying for Welfare, you will not qualify as a sponsor.
