SOWP while I am of work permit as postdoctoral fellow

I currently hold a closed work permit valid for 20 months. My job title is postdoctoral fellow under NOC21110 (TEER1). Although it is full-time employment, my pay slips show that I am getting paid as scholarship so there is no EI or CPP deduction. Does this affect eligibility of my wife for SOWP?
