Son born in Canada and need to sign for his passport

My son was born in Canada last month and I'm in Pakistan. My wife applied for his passport last week but they said the father need to go to Canadian embassy to sign for his passport. They gave us a file number yesterday now I want to know can I go to embassy directly or I need to take appointment?

Hi, call them and ask them to make sure they dont send you back...my husband went without appointment with the file number and they accepted him without any problem.

what city? LIke the main embassy in capital or sub embassy in other cities?

No you dont have to go in the capital, any Canadian embassy will do it. You have the file number.

You can go to any Canadian Embassy with the reference number and fill out the forms and sign it. My husband had to do the same thing too for our son.
