Someone has experience evaluating credentials from closed college?

Hi,

I did a two year post-secondary diploma in a college that does not exist anymore. I have the original diploma and the original transcript I received when I finished.

Does anyone has any experience in evaluating his credentials in such a condition?

Maybe other people who have the same experience could give more insightful comments - but I think it highly depends on the credibility of this college when it existed. Was is recognized by most ECA agencies? Is it completely closed or changed to another institute under a different name?

Furthermore, when it comes to evaluation, you might be asked to request this institute to directly send your credentials/transcripts to the ECA agency. In that case, are you able to do that, provided that the college may not exist anymore?

It changed its name, after I talked to them the only thing they can do is take a copy of my transcript and put its stamp and put the copy with stamp into sealed envelop. Will that be enough?

It's difficult to say because basing on the origins of the graduating institutes, the ECA agencies request different credentials. However if it was just a name change by your college it's much better than graduating from an extinct one.

Do yourself a favor, go to the websites of the ECA agency of your choice (WES, BCIT, etc.). They normally list their credential requirement for degrees obtained from a particular country. These requirements will give you an idea of what specifically are needed if you want to have an ECA with the agency. Also the Q&A sessions will be helpful too.

if that college is affiliated to any university, u might have received the certificate from the university and in such a case there is no issue at all
