Some questions while filling out Family Class sponsorship forms

Hi guys,

My brother is planning to apply for PR through family class. His wife is a Canadian PR.

How many forms do you need to fill out for Family class sponsorship?

Part 1: [By my Sister-in-law The sponsor]
Document Checklist [IMM 5491]
Application to Sponsor, Sponsorship Agreement and Undertaking [IMM 1344]
Sponsorship Evaluation [IMM 5481]
Sponsor Questionnaire [IMM 5540]

Part 2: [By my brother The sponsored person]
Generic Application Form for Canada [IMM 0008]
Schedule A – Background/Declaration [IMM 5669]
Additional Family Information [IMM 5406]
Sponsored Spouse/Partner Questionnaire [IMM 5490]

Is this list OK? Or do my sister-in-law needs to fill out Schedule A - background declaration form too for her self?

Sponsor fills out Part 1 forms.

Applicant fills out Part 2 and Part 3 forms.

I got confused because it says:

"Schedule A – Background/Declaration (IMM 5669)
Who must fill out this application form?

This form must be completed by:
- you, the principal applicant; [my Brother]
- your spouse (whether accompanying you to Canada or not) [his wife? but she is PR and she is sponsoring him]"

ONLY the principal applicant fills out applicant forms. Whenever forms requird for an applicant say "your spouse or family members" need to also fill out the forms, they are NOT referring to a spouse that is a sponsor, nor are they referring to parents or siblings. These terms are used to identify other family members and/or spouses who are ALSO applying to become PR. ie: a husband and wife are being sponsored by a third party or the applicant has dependant children from a previous relationship. For application purposes, the sponsor is NOT the spouse, they are the sponsor, so ONLY your brother fills out applicant forms.

When filling out the General Application, does his wife need to fill out the "Add Dependent" Section?
"To Add a dependent Click the ADD DEPENDENT button"

He does not have any child, and His Wife is already a PR (who is sponsoring him).

I am thinking there will not be any dependents. So he does not need to fill out the Dependents section.
Is that right?

Yes, if he has no children then there will be no dependents, he can remove the dependent boxes from the PDF file and he does not need the additional dependent form.

Do you need to undergo Medical Exam before submitting application?

yes, it is a required document for outland applications. while your application *may* not be returned because it's not there, waiting until it's requested by the visa office can delay approval.

Can you apply for travel or student visa while a spousal application is ongoing?

Yes, you can. The chances of getting the visa are quite slim though, since a Canadian spouse or a Canadian PR spouse is considered to be the stronger tie.
