PR status about to expire. Still not able to land in Canada due to some obligations. Can I re-apply for PR again? Will they consider application for the same? Or can I apply after it expires flinally? Help required. Is there any provision of law that grants reconsideration of granting PR status?

I'm not sure what you mean by "land" in this context. Are you already a PR unable to return to Canada in time to meet the residency obligation, or do you have a PR visa you are not going to be able to use before it expires. Those are two quite different situations.

Thanks for your reply. I have a PR status but about to expire. Have not been able to return to Canada and meet the residency obligations, in any way. Now only 8 months for PR to expire. I have lived in the country of my origin only.

Some more information if you need ----I have not been able to go back to Canada inspite of getting the PR card. I do not meet the residency obligations at all ......as I have lived the entire five year term ......(in which you complete 730 minimum days) Outside canada in the country of origin due to some problems. I went through the immigration site but it says only people living in Canada ...and who need to renew , who have lost or damaged PR card only... can apply. Is there no option for people like me to re-apply if they have not been able to return to Canada due to specific reasons? Mine is an unusual case. PLease guide.

You basically have two options:

1. Return to Canada now. You will be allowed to travel to Canada if your PR card hasn't expired yet, but almost certainly they will begin proceedings to revoke your PR status once you arrive. You could then appeal the loss of your PR status if - as you say - there are genuinely exceptional circumstances.

2. Relinquish your PR status, and re-apply with a new PR application.

If your PR card has already expired, option 1 becomes applying for a travel document, then appealing the loss of PR status when they refuse to issue the travel document.
