Hi Nashe ,
I have been keenly following this Social Worker forum. I am about to apply for FSW Social Worker. The advice and guidance of the members of this forum will definitely help me to prepare my application in the appropriate manner. My work experience letter does not matches those with the CIC guidelines. I need advice and guidance.

hello Nashe / Zeenat

I see you guys actively participate and help others, I hope i can get some assistance if possible.

Please see if I am eligible to apply to Canada under Federal Skill Migration list.

My age is 26, I am a social worker in All Pakistan Women Association (APWA) from last 5 years. My ielts band score is 7. I have done B. Com (02 years program). My husband is also B. Com and as per my evaluation through CIC website, i do qualify with 67 points. My only concern is Social workers from Pakistan are welcome in Canada ?? I heard someone commenting that Canada doesnt recognize social worker from Pakistan. Please help.

Thanks

As pointed out from previous post, what CIC cares about is the fact that you have performed the duties of a social worker as listed on the HRSDC website (see below). If your experience at APWA relates to the duties listed below, you are good to go as per FSW application.
Regarding social work practice while in Canada, you will need to have your degree evaluated by CASW first and then register with a provincial body....you cant practice social work without some sort of evaluation or registration.
The advice is apply for FSW and then work towards making your degree recognizeable in Canada...good luck! Mandie

according to me ur points are little below 67. as u know points are based on ur experience (which is in ur case) almost full points 21, ielts ...(7 is also good) spouse qualification b-com i think 3 points are given . age is 26 (so full 10 points ). if u have any blood relation or have arranged employment then u can gain additional 10 points. u can only apply when u qualify for 67 points.n canada really encourage all 29 occupations highly on demand. yes offcourse @ mandie duties should be matched according to CIC ministrial instructions otherwise application can be rejected.....canada recognize social worker from pakistan.first u apply with all requirements ....rest things are beyond that. :)

After 2.5 months of preparations, finally I submitted my application today :)

Now Insha-Allah, hope for the best.

Age=10
Experience= 21
(if u have performed the duties, a social worker is supposed to perform, as per Ministerial Instructions )
Ielts= please tell us ur band score for each module, (you need to score 6.5 in Reading, Writing, Speaking, and 7.5 in listening to secure 16 points)
Qualifications= 20
Adaptability points= 3 (If your spouse is accompanying you in the application)

This will clear you your points, rest of ur questions have already been replied by my friends.

Hi Mandie

I have one asking, which stage CIC complete selection decision for post june Applicants????? As per cic guideline '' If your application is eligible for processing your application will be assessed against the following requirements

1. minimal requirements 2. selection factors 3. sufficient funds, if your score is equal to or grater than the pass mark, your application will be sent to the visa office for further processing. Please clear to me.

Regards.

When CIO Sydney receives a complete application, it assesses it against the factors listed. When it is satisfied that all these are met, the applicant receives via email positive eligibility review (PER for short). It then forwards the file to a CIC mentioned on the application. Now CIC/VO will also do their own assessment against these factors and requests for additional docs where it deemed necessary. VO can refuse the application even after initial approval from the CIO if it doubts something and the applicant is unable to provide evidence when requested for. So you can be sure to be 80% out of the woods when u r 'in process' or in receipt o med req. Hope I answered ur que....Mandie
