The AOR is very important as you can show your current employers that you have applied for PR so you can still continue to work for them, its like solid proof.
I would think your tracking information for that PR package, or a receipt stating you've paid x amount of $ would be the same. If you are implying that you used that to get on 'implied' status to continue with a job, that of course also implies that you sent in an OWP with your application along with a few other considerations based on what program your original work permit was issued under.

The AOR also gave me my file number and UCI number so I can now track our application online.

It also gave me reassurance that the application wouldn't be returned for something missing and showing up in the mailbox any day.

I understand being anxious to get the AOR. It took me 10 days but I am applying outland. So using Mississauga not Vegreville

I think, as Screech noted, AOR really doesn't mean anything. If you folks are this distraught over not yet receiving your AOR and it's only been a few weeks, you are in for quite a wild ride whilst you wait for your AIP and PR. My application was in receipt at CIC on Dec 7, 2012. I got an AOR and application in process together on Jan 21, 2013. Here I sit, months later, and still nothing, not a peep out of them. Polish up on your patience skills. I know how hard it is to sit and wait, and wonder what the hold up is, but if you sit and wonder all day long you are going to drive yourself crazy. Just remember even when you get your AOR, they can ask for an interview later, or ask for more paperwork 11 months after the fact or many many things. AOR doesn't give you anything. If your tracking numbers for your application show in receipt, then they have your application.
I totally understand what you are saying. But I already have in my mind fully prepared to wait about 2 years to get our Approval. We have some situations that will require further checking by CIC. So I am expecting to wait longer than the average processing time.

But the reason I am anxious about AOR is because until I receive it, I am wondering and worrying if they are going to send back my whole Application and my wait time would start from the beginning. And since AOR doesn’t really have much to do with the situations that could slow down and cause delays in processing, it is worrying me that we haven’t rec’d ours.

I was watching the average time before ours was sent it, and had it in my mind to wait that long. It passed, and I started seeing people who sent in their Applications weeks and now up to almost a month after us continue getting AOR’s while we haven’t rec’d ours. If it was AIP/DM, I totally get that every Application will have many differences and valid reasons why some get theirs months ahead of others. But for AORs you wouldn’t think that’s so much the case.

I can’t even really consider my Application in line for the wait time until I get AOR….It’s completely a peace of mind thing. It’s not that I am some impatient person who can’t wait, I know full well what sort of wait I am in for. I have done this whole process before..(for my ex husband, but cancelled it before Approval was rec’d, since we got divorced).

Interview – 1000% not worried. Extra papers later – No problem. Wait time past what is specified – Expected.

Also AOR just gives us something to show also because my husband is out of status. So once we have the AOR, at least if we ever run into any problems, it will be something solid to prove that he is in process.

As long as you kept your receipts from your payment being sent in with application, that should be proof enough. Anyone that could potentially give him any trouble, can also access his information. Since you are concerned about his status, I am assuming that you also sent in his OWP with the application?

sorry for the typo!!

"
I called the CIC today..they said that "they were opening envelopes that are dated oct 20th 2013." ..so i should expect my AOR in about 2-3 weeks.

Interesting
"

I mean....when i called the CIC they said they were opening packages dated AUGUST 20TH ..not October.

There IS a database that the CIC contact center agents can check...the database shows WHICH files are being opened (as in the date they were rec'd). i should be 2-3 weeks away from AOR. I will call the CIC again in a few weeks :)

So In-Land Applications sent with a OWP what is the average waiting time for AOR at the current moment?

Yup, sent in the OWP along with.

Technically the recipt could be for anyone though. The AOR has your name on it (and not just handwritten in).

I don't think having an OWP with your Application makes any difference in AOR times?

Currently most ppl (except for me...lol) are getting AOR's in about 3 weeks.

You can look online using your receipt number, you know.

If you change the drop down box to the receipt number then input the rest of that information, perhaps you can find out if there is in fact an 'AOR' that they didn't get sent to you for whatever reason. You would not be the first person to miss out on a piece of paper or an email from CIC. We have folks on our 2012 thread who never received their AIP letters, even though they did in fact have it.

*EDIT* If your spouse also had a visitor record or any other document that was given to him 'officially' when he came to Canada, that should also have a UCI number on it. I am 99.9% sure that specific UCI will continue to be associated with that person, so you could also check using that, if you have one.

Thanks!

Tried that. Got our file number from the first CIC agent who I spoke to, who was slightly more helpful.

It starts with an XF which means it has not yet been processed (once it begins they remove the "F" apparently). They confirmed that the AOR has not yet been given for our Application.....

The 2nd Agent I spoke to who was not so helpful, told me that they were processing August 28th AORs, so I shouldnt be expecting it. I reminded her ours was from Aug.14th, and she just said "oh"... ???

Nothing shows up if I try to login with any of those numbers. I assume that's cuz there is nothing to show if they haven't even processed our AOR yet....

It could be there is nothing available, just remember, if you use the receipt number, you MUST use the sponsors last name/dob/place of birth. If you use the spouses' UCI then use spouses information.

I should point out that the F in ours is in tact. We don't have an X though ...

Ooops...you are correct...I meant the other way around...they remove the "X" once the processing (i.e. AOR) begins....
