Hello All,

We landed yesterday in Toronto. There were no surprises at all. But the best part was at the customs check. When we reached there and showed them our accompanying goods list (with photographs of all the jewelries), the officer was so happy that he was showing it to his colleagues and saying "finally someone's got it right"! We could not have done this without reading qorax's post about the topic (link here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t44793.0.html). So thank you very much sir, and I hope you'll keep posting such valuable information.

Regards and good luck to all.

Congratulations on Landing and best wishes for prosperous life in Canada.

No Doubt Qorax is the most informative person and has been imparting his knowledge on the forum for such a long time that it is difficult to think of this forum without him now. I have been able to help a few people based on knowledge gained from his threads.

Congrats Bro!
Now's the time to work-hard, relax [V.Imp], network, have patience & assume that this is our final frontier -- then things would work-out well for u. Always remember -- there's no competition, nothing to hurry, no bus to catch -- let things fall into place, by themselves... and they would... it did with everyone here!

All the very best.

Hello,

So happy for you that you are already there.

Did they ask you to show proof of funds? I am trying to work out how to take my money there. I have a bank account with Bank of America (in the USA) and another one with Halifax Bank of Scotland (in UK). I would rather just take original bank letters and bank statements and then I would just be using the money from those accounts until I open my bank account in Canada.

I am not too sure if they would accept that as Proof of funds, but I cant take all my money in cash and I do not want to exchange it all into Canadian Dollars yet as the exchange rate is really bad.

Any advice?

They asked how much money I was bringing into Canada. I answered, and they didn't ask for any proof. But just in case, I had a bank statement from Standard Chartered bank. I think a bank statement from an international bank should be fine.

Good luck.

This week, Statistics Canada (StatsCan) reported that the Canadian economy added more than five times the expected number of jobs in November, a sign that the country's economic recovery is well underway.
"It was across many sectors, many full-time jobs, which are regarded as good-quality jobs because it means steady income and a steady flow of money back into the economy,".

The national unemployment rate dropped 0.1 per cent in December as a result of the 79,000 new jobs. The most populated provinces of Ontario and Quebec, in particular, saw a substantial increase in the number of jobs created. Those two provinces are common destinations for immigrants to Canada.
