Hey all!! so I just graduated in April,2012 in University of Regina with an economic certificate. Well I was studying in engineering, but what can i say, my family is short for funds, so I deceided to finish school ASAP, then work on immigration. Once I become immigrates, i can still come back to school.
The reason I'm confident to graduate with just a certificate is because I've gained over 1500 hours work experience when I was a student in school restaurant and Macdonald's. anyway so i received my PGWP on June15, and it only lasts for 8 freakin months because technically it only cost 8 month to get a certificate despite the years I spent in engineering before. and I went for ILETS in June, the score is 7 as listen6, reading8, writing7 and speaking6.5.
Now I found a job as a kitchen helper (NOC D type, *censored word*ty, I know!)in a sushi restaurant in downtown Regina, the employer is very nice guy, and he promises me to help me with the immigration. He already has an account and password on the website on July27, 2012, but his status is still "application submitted", perhaps he will be able to apply for the approval letter once the status changes to "activated" or something. I have everything else ready for immigration but the permanent employment offer and this stupid approval letter from SINP.
Anyway, my PGWP will be expired on Feb12, 2013. So my question is how much longer until my boss receives the Approval letter from SINP? and assuming that I apply for SINP in September, it would definitely takes longer than Feb12, 2013. What should I do when my PGWP expires while Im still waiting for SINP approval? My friend told me not to worry because I can apply for regular work permit, Im not sure about that..
FYI, my study permit will be expired on Dec31, 2013. I don't think it'd be helpful thou.. thanks for reading and please give me some advices. Have a lovely day you all!!

hopefully someone responses soon.. I'm in love with this country and don't wanna go back :( and I'll definitely go back to university for an actual bachelor degree in petroleum engineering!

Hi Zhu,

I suggest sending in your sinp application now. Do a cover letter explaining that your employer has registered already and that y ou will send in the job approval form as soon as you receive it. If you are confident of complying with 6 months work experience and 960 hours ( you studied inside SK) then you can go ahead. SINP can send your documents back or give you a file number. Then sometime in February 2013, you can apply for a closed work permit thru your present employer. There is no need for LMO since you were an international student when your employer sponsors you to work for him on a closed work permit. Call CIC 1888 242 2100 to verify what I`m telling you about the closed work permit and having ìmplied status while you wait for CIC`s decision because you will be allowed to work during this period.

I dont think you need ielts either since you started working on off campus work permit prior to the changes in May 2012 so you are ready to submit now. Mind you... filling out the CIC forms can take time too, have you done that already... Good luck!

Peachie thank you so much for your information!!

You're welcome Zhu.

As a suggestion, go to the search engine on the top right hand corner and put in sinp student. There were other links regarding the same topic for you to read up on.
