Our TRV was approved after sponsorship was approved through Bangkok as well
Denied twice before sponsor was approved... 1 week after sponsor approved... TRV issued
You want to make sure in your letter of invite you specify that you have dual intent... that if the TRV is granted that you will not overstay your TRV and jeopardize your PR application
Good luck to all :)
There's a good point.

Hey guys, just a question. So by applying for TRV, this will not affect the PR application at all? And how long does it usually take the application to be approved or rejected? thanks ! I would love to have my wife visit me here in Vancouver, but i am so busy with work. I am also afraid by applying for TRV it will affect the PR application. Does anyone have any TRV success from Vietnam? thanks.

Where is your spouse from?

toutesweet said:
Yes I am exaggerating. But it is difficult. So why do you figure you were approved? That's what they want to know. Has your spouse travelled to a western country before you were married?
Please excuse this question, but are you and/or for spouse from wealthy and/or connected families? It's just I noticed your application was extremely rapid. Sometimes it's just luck of the draw. Perhaps you were just very fortunate. It can't be expected though. It is not the norm.
For eg. Can/US couple living together in US for 4yrs then decided to move to Canada, after he (the American) was not able to cross the border to visit her much to their shock, because customs said, 'you have a Canadian wife, how can we be expected to believe you'll leave the country at the end of 6 months?'
I was just trying to point out it's not a prejudice thing. Just hard. Sometimes it's based on completely unfair things, like my husband couldn't get a trv before we were married, yet our friend had no problem at all for a few reasons but in big part because she was a girl and thought of as les likely to run away. Also her sponsor was a prominent community member (they wouldn't have been concerned about human trafficking for one, they're also les likely to want to ruffle his feathers). The first trv is always the hardest.
If it so easy we wouldn't be suffering and waiting like this. Many more of us would be doing it. I'm coming up on 5 years since I met my husband, I tried every angle. I would much prefer he visit me. I lose 15-20 000 in lost wages every year going to see him and spend another 8-10k to get and stay there. Yeah I'd love him to have a trv. So if you have some insight as to why you think she got it, please share.

Hi Mirjahan, thank u for the link! Actually its my husband who sponsored me and he passed the eligibility as a sponsor from their email on July 29th 2013 and SVO emailed me that they received my document from Mississauga and gave my own UCI number, medical has been received and after that there's no update till we send them email and they replied that " This application is currently pending final review, after which we will contact the applicant directly to advise the outcome of the review and any next steps."

I saw ur whole process is a year, that's a good one!:) Hope mine will get IN PROCESS soon and there will be no interview bcz it will stress me out more!:D
I wish your file goes IN PROCESS no interview.
when i ask SVO about my wife file status i got thisreply from them.
Spore office received your CSQ. File is now in queue awaiting review by officer. Please wait to receive further instructions, if any, from this office
it was on August 10 and File goes In Process in December. In Feb she received PPR letter with supporting documents returns.

When SVO received application they creat File No and UCI no.
Wish you good luck.

Some VO's ask you for re-meds earlier but make you wait longer for ppr. They wouldn't wait til it was close to expiring though, so couldn't be more than 5 mo more, hopefully a lot sooner. Too bad they don't list the VO as a timeline option so you could compare and geta gauge on it. It could be of course any day as well. Not being clear out sure is so frustrating. In glad I never knew it could go faster til recently especially because it turned out to be so long for us. It would have made me even more crazy. I feel for you. Hope you get your ppr soon. So hard when you're thinking you're getting close and they keep you hanging on. Hang in there. It will come.

Really?! That's shocking! Are you sure? There's no name just letters and numbers. Really!? Too bad. Let me check mine a moment and see exactly where. Should have been assigned shortly after received by Singapore

Page two under paper file; location, then next category, assignment; assigned to, two letters and a 5 digit number.

Hi, My brother is planning to apply for PR, His wife is a Permanent Citizen.

While looking at the checklist:

9. Original of completed Schedule A - Background/Declaration (IMM 5669) - for the sponsored person and each family member 18 years of age or over, signed by the person concerned.

11. Original of completed Additional Family Information (IMM 5406) - for the sponsored person and each family member of 18 years of age or over, singed by the person concerned.

26. Originals of Police certificates and clearances - As per documents list provided in the Immigrant's guide.
Immigrants guide: Original police certificates or clearances from each country in which you and every one in your family aged 18 years or over have resided six months or more since reaching 18 years of age in the last 10 years.

Also the guide is asking for medical checks, photos - for "each family member".

My brother has to fill these required forms/documents of course.

But question is do rest of the family (mother, father, myself) has to get police certificate, medical checkups, photos too??
Or when they say "each family member" - they mean the people who are applying for PR like dependents???

I am Confused because, it is not making any sense to make the whole family go through security checks, when only 1 person is applying for PR.

We are not applying for PR here. He is getting sponsored by his wife.
