SIN Number in 6 weeks

Hi guys!

I searched in the web and the entire site and did't found anything about it.

I went to take the SIN number and I did everything. But the lady said they have had some problems and she has to make manual. She gave me a paper and asked me to fill the form. I did and she said it'll take 6 weeks to have my SIN Number. Is that right or something could be wrong with my application?

And also, just for sure, I need this number to apply to MSP?

No, you don't need it to apply MSP. They are separate.

That's weird! The entire process for getting my SIN took 35 minutes with 25 of those spent waiting in the queue. But that was in Ontario. Where are you located?
 
Last month I landed in Manitoba, went to Service Canada that same day, had my SIN within 10 minutes. That's it.

I'm in New Westminster. Actually, the number just arrived in our mailbox within 2 weeks.

The lady on the desk said that she had a problem with the software so the number had to be created manually.

We got our SIN in half an hour
 
This a bit off-topic but related to SIN. Does anyone know if we can get a SIN number at Toronto's Pearson airport? Thanks in advance for your reply.
