Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
So, I just got an email from CIC. There is movement on my application!

This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada as a member of the family class. We have now completed the initial assessment of your application, and expect to finalize your application without a personal interview. While an interview does not appear necessary at this time, we reserve the right to call you to an interview, should this become necessary at some future stage in processing.

Good news, right? Well, thanks to this forum I know to temper my enthusiasm for now. ;) Stuff can still go wrong.

But, they also asked for this:

- Copy or scanned image of your valid passport’s bio-data page.

This is JUST the page with my picture, right? Do I need to send everything that has a stamp on it, too? Should I also send a copy of my visitor's record / driver's license? Also, anyone have any idea where I'd be in the process given this? Is this the PPR, or just something else? (I could have SWORN I already sent a notarized copy of that page with my application...)

I'm off to get another copy of my passport's picture page (along with the one above it 'cause why not, it'll get copied with it anyway) at the very least. If you guys say I need more, I'll get those things, too, before sending it in.

Oh, before I forget, how should I label this with my application number / info? Any ideas?

Thanks!

yes the bio page is the page with all your info and picture. unless they ask for other pages, it's not necessary. do not send them anything else. they certainly won't need your driver's license. perhaps this is your PPR? seniors will tell you for sure!

Cvstos - you're applying through the Ottawa visa office correct? That is good news, it is your Passport Request. I would get a copy of the page with your picture and the one with you info on it. You can email it in to CPC-Ottawa if you'd like, as well. I would always reference your UCI and File Number and personal info of the Applicant and Sponsor in the email so you can be sure they'll match it to your file.

Don't you have to send the whole Passport for that? (And yup, CPC-Ottawa.) If this is the PPR, consider me super-psyched.

Also, does this need to be notarized?

not for visa exempt applicants. they are just verifying the passport hasn't changed.

no because they requested a scanned copy, which would make notarization pointless.

Rhcohen is right - they're mostly just confirming that you still have the same passport as when you applied. Doesn't have to be notarized.
Also, can you share your timeline? I'm super curious :D

We paid for the process a long time ago, but only submitted the full app at the end of November 2013. I encountered some medical stuff that put the move on hold for a while. I'm think we paid maybe a year and a half before we submitted.

Hi Guys

We received a request to send a scanned copy of the passport bio data today. Zarilenth mentioned that Cvstos application is from Ottawa. What does it mean if its coming from London, UK? Are they just verifying the persons identity?

Thanks guys

as suggested in the other thread you posted the same question is, most likely this is your passport request. visa offices that handle visa-excempt applications all ask for scanned copies, not the actual passport.

Yep it's just to make sure you have the same passport and that nothing has changed (ie. name change, etc.)

Don't expect something to happen right away when you send it in. I sent mine almost a week ago and nothing has changed since on my status on the website. For all I know it could be another six months, and I'm proceeding under that assumption until I know otherwise.

When did you submit your application to Mississauga? I'm curious how long it took for Ottawa to send you your PPR.

They received it on December 3, 2013. I got the PPR (if it is the PPR) on May 23rd. I sent my passport scan May 24th via email. No response yet other than the auto-reply.

It is definitely your PPR :) And from the link in my signature you can expect to wait around a month or less before receiving your COPR.

Perphaps you should the December 2013 Outland group. It helps seeing the status of other applicants, especially ones from the same visa office (9 of us so far in the December 2013 group for Ottawa).

Here's the link: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/december-2013-outland-applicants-–-join-here-t175041.0.html

We have similar timeline as I also applied on December 4,2013 and received PPR on May 22,2014. I am checking E-CAS everyday sometimes even twice a day but in reality I shouldn't expect things to change anytime soon.
