Hello everyone,

I am a Canadian citizen starting the process of sponsorship for my common law partner, out land. As we reside abroad, I am wondering how to go about signing affidavits. I also need letters of support confirming our relationship's legitimacy from family and friends that are abroad, so can these declarations be sworn with a notary or lawyer abroad?n
I once contacted a local Embassy of Canada to ask about other types of declarations being signed there and was advised any local notary could do it, so I am wondering if for immigration purposes it would be the same.
Basically I need:

- A personal affidavit declaring my intention to return to Canada as soon as the process is finished
- Affidavits from family members and friends confirming our relationships
- A declaration from my father confirming financial support for when we arrive in Canada, before we start working, along with a bank statement, from abroad.

Many thanks for all your help!

Yes, any local notary can do it for you.

You only need two Stat Decs from family/friends confirming your relationship. You can have your father write one, including the financial support details, and then you only need one more. You can get normal letters from other family/friends.
