I'm a client who signed a retainer agreement with an immigration lawyer to apply for a work permit. There's been no work done on the work permit at all, but there's been work done on the LMIA that comes before the work permit, which is stipulated in another retainer agreement with the company that is hiring me.
Can I request for the fees I've paid out for the work permit retainer to be refunded fully on the basis that there has been no work done towards this retainer agreement yet? Additional info: the lawyer is not providing timely, responsible communications towards the LMIA which has eroded my confidence in this person and I have decided not to proceed with him for the work permit.
