Does anyone know if the email address that AOR is sent to is ALWAYS the sponsor, or...is it ALWAYS the email address that was provided when paying the fees online?
The name and email address of the payor is my sponsor, so perhaps they simply saw her name on the application label...looked her up in the system...found her email address from the receipt and generated the AOR email...OR, did someone have to physically open the package and find the sponsors email address on the sponsor's form(s)?

If so, perhaps s/he gave the [sponsorship] application a quick `glance' to look for any obvious errors, before sending AOR. Maybe???

I realize that nothing is guaranteed, but is AOR really a `minimal' check of the application, or just an automated email to the person that paid the fees?

I might be mistaken, but from what I've read about AOR, I believe they open the application and scan the barcodes on the top pages. Those scans include the e-mail address that was entered for the applicant, so I believe AOR is sent to the applicant's e-mail (not the sponsor), unless you fill out the representative form, in which case the e-mail is sent to that address instead (and indeed, if you do you a representative, the form tells you to enter their email as the applicant's e-mail in address space).

Presumably those scans do some basic checks, but I don't think they go through everything.

I didn't do my application online, we used pen and paper! LOL but the sponsor would get the application AOR and Sponsorship approval and the person being sponsored would get the AOR from the visa office.

It is the email which is included in the file on the sponsorship forms. For me, we put my email as both.

Thank you both for your prompt replies!

As I am the applicant, I know that the AOR does not come to me...because it was sent to my sponsor. However, I think you are probably correct about the barcodes...which would be the fastest way for the person opening the package to get the sponsor's email address.

I think they do a cursory check of the application at this stage. On mine there was a mistake on one of the forms and they asked me to resend the info. Was the dumbest thing, on the background form asking for dates of employment and residence, it wouldn't let you write present. So i just put the date that i was signing the form and they sent a letter asking for where I had lived and worked in the few weeks since sending the app and them opening it. In the end i just reprinted and wrote present over the box in pen.

Really? I thought writing the date you signed it was normal, that's strange. I did the same thing, so we'll see what they say (no AOR yet)...

Regarding AORs being emailed....... Check your Junk mail folder, mine ended in there.
