I just want to ask, I do have my 2 sisters in Canada, 1 is a permanent resident already and the other one still holding a working visa. Most of my relatives in my mother side are also there. My parents are currently in the Philippines right now. My question is, can my sister sponsor me to go to Canada?

It is reasonable to believe, based on the fact that your parents are alive, that the answer is no.

Hey guys,

I want to ask that if a PR holder can sponsor his younger brother who is 24 years old? I don't have anyone in Canada though my parents are still alive and are living in India with my brother. My idea is I am thinking of first sponsoring my brother with the reason that I am alone in Canada and don't have anyone as per the rules. Then I or my brother (if he gets PR through the sponsorship) can sponsor my parents later.I request the experts here to please offer their invaluable suggestions!

Based on the information you have provided, the answer is no. Your parents take precedence via the existing PGP immigration stream.

Thanks for your reply! Btw, what do you mean by PGP immigration stream?
PGP immigration stream allows you to sponsor your parents. This takes priority over sponsoring any siblings and means it's not possible to sponsor your siblings as long as at least one of your parents is still alive.

Hi there,
I am never married with no common law partner nor dependent, and none of my parents and grandparents are alive. However, I have a second cousin in Canada (she is a granddaughter of the sister of my grandmother). Am I qualified to sponsor my sister who is older than 18?

1. As long as your parents/grandparents are deceased, you are single, no children and you don't have Brother/Sister/nephew/niece/aunt/uncle residing in Canada, you can sponsor your sister and her dependents (if any)
