Hi, I got an admit from a Canadian university. My offer letter has university/departmental funding for tuition and also for living expenses (in excess of CAD 10,000 that CIC needs for living expenses). I have a couple of questions:

1. I am thinking of attaching a bank statement that my dad got that states the amount of his fixed deposits - it does not talk about the duration for which the deposits have been with the bank.

2. My dad has retired and was self-employed before that. So, I'm not sure if I can get the 'employment letter' that CIC requires - however, please note that my dad will not be my primary sponsor (the university where I'll be joining is my primary financial sponsor)

3. Do I need to get a GIC considering that I already having departmental funding in excess of CAD 10,000 - this info is on my offer letter?

I would really appreciate any input.
