Hello,

Just a quick question for leon or anyone who has an idea!!!

I was wondering if I can show my USA bank account along with sponsorship evaluation form in sponsoring my wife. I was working in USA since last 2years and now moved back to canada and going to sponso my wife.. As I am unemployed currently ( due to the reason that I am preparing for my licensing exam), I would like to show enough bank balance from my previous savings.
Transferring USD to my canadian bank account is real expensive these days when Us dollar is too weak in addition to wire transfer charges..

So I was wondering if I can show my US bank statements as a proof of my financial stability along with some balance in Canadian bank account.. Is it neccesary to show balance in Canadian Bank only ? coz USD can be used any time in canada in future when it goes higher..

I understand that spousal sponsorship is exempt from financial requirement. But I do not want to take risk as I can afford to work currently due to my study for licensing exam and just want to show that I have enough balance in US/Canadian bank to afford me and my wife..

Your suggestions will be appreciated..

Thank you

Any one please.. ????

LEON help please ?????? :(

I would say it wouldnt hurt to show your bank account balance from your US bank. However, I'd still add an explanation of the reason you're not including an option C printout, which is the requirement (item 17 on the sponsor's checklist - IMM5491) to prove your financial ability to sponsor, even though for spousal/common-law sponsorship there are no financial requirements (as per OP Manual, 10.3), just the signing of the undertaking which is basically the contract between the sponsor, the applicant and CIC to provide for the sponsored person's needs.

So I would say, include the bank account statement and the explanation that you were living and working in the US the last two years and you did not file income tax declarations in Canada. On the other hand, I suggest to include copies of your payslips and income tax forms from the US.

Good luck.

Thank you so much for the suggestion.
